whispers of spring

There may be fresh snow on the ground outside (not much, but snow none the less) but under the window in the office we have been seeing the first signs of spring. I even got to start digging in the garden beds last weekend. Much as I love winter and cozy fires and lots of knitting, I'm ready to get my hands dirty in the garden.
Are you planning a garden this year? Planting anything exciting? We're hoping to expand out beds and grow a lot more tomatoes (for canning) and popcorn (for popping, of course) How about you?

  1. I just bought loads of seeds at Southern States this week -- carrots, lettuce, spinach, kale, peas, and flowers (zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, etc.). I have edamame seeds saved from last summer. In May, I'll pick up tomato, pepper, and cucumber seedlings, as well as a dozen basil plants. I already have an herb garden, an asparagus bed, a strawberry bed, six blueberry bushes, and some apple trees. More apple and cherry trees will be bought next month to complete our wee orchard.

That said, it's hard to imagine gardening when there's snow on the ground...

Thanks for stopping by,I'd love to hear from you!
